Another paper from Sophie Mellsop, this time in Electrocatalysis. Sophie investigated whether iridium can be spontaneously deposited onto nickel substrates from H2IrCl6 solution to improve oxygen evolution performance in 30% KOH. The approach works well — 45 minutes at 60°C was sufficient to significantly boost OER activity, with H2IrCl6 giving the most active and stable coating. A simple, scalable route to improved alkaline water electrolysis anodes.
