Sophie’s paper on spatial variability of kinetics in carbon felt electrodes

Congratulations to Sophie McArdle on her paper in Electrochemistry Communications. Building on Leatham’s earlier single-fibre methodology, Sophie used it to systematically probe the spatial variability of electron transfer rate constants across carbon felt electrodes. The results reveal significant non-uniformity across felt samples, which has important implications for how we understand and optimise the performance of carbon felt electrodes in redox flow batteries.
