Alchemy ? making copper gas diffusion electrodes behave like gold
Publication
Congratulations to Alex Heenan on his paper in Electrochimica Acta. Alex showed that the Nafion ionomer loading in a CuO catalyst ink can be used to shift the selectivity of a gas diffusion electrode dramatically — from copper-like behaviour favouring ethylene to gold-like behaviour favouring CO. The work highlights how catalyst layer formulation is a powerful and underutilised lever for controlling product selectivity in CO2 electroreduction. Well done Alex!
